Ibn Tulun and Gayer Anderson

The Mosque of Ibn Tulun, one of the architectural glories of the Muslim world, is built in the imperial style of the Abbasid Court at Samarra in Iraq where Ibn Tulun lived as a young man. The Mosque is impressive for its pleasing simplicity and grand scale. Next-door is the Gayer Anderson Museum, a fascinating example of a typical early Islamic house.
